This morning I turned off my alarm a few too many times, so I missed yoga with Lauren, which was too bad, but I really needed the sleep. I went into the office and it was "go, go, go." We really needed to get the music ready for the concert on Friday. The whole day was mostly just making copies and putting together binders for the musicians.
I did, however, get a chance to sit in on a master class led by Gary Gable. IT WAS SO COOL. I had certainly sat in on masterclasses before, but I had never really listened. I could really hear improvement after only 20 or 30 minutes of singing. He was so, so smart and he knew exactly what to say so that even I understood what he asked of the singers.
With the binders in the office finally finished, Giovanni Reggioli took the office staff to Ristorante al Morro, where they make the best truffle pasta. In fact, we saw many of the other singers at the restaurant who were also there to enjoy the burrata and the truffles. It was a pretty normal and relaxed day other than finding all of the correct music.
I did want to spotlight two teachers today: Dona Vaughn and Richard Gammon. They are our acting coaches, and oh my goodness I love them so much. While Dona keeps it serious and focused, Richard fosters a more humorous and relaxed environment. Walking into a class with Dona is intense, and Richard is more loose. I can't believe we are so lucky to have them here, and I always enjoy talking with them. They are perfect balances of each other and just the best people to be around.
